Surah Al-A'laa — سُورَةُ الأَعۡلَىٰ
The Most High · 19 ayahs · Meccan · surah 87 of 114 · Listen, recited by Abdur-Rahman As-Sudais
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ﴿1﴾
Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High, (87:1)
Who createth, then disposeth; (87:2)
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ﴿3﴾
Who measureth, then guideth; (87:3)
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ﴿4﴾
Who bringeth forth the pasturage, (87:4)
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ﴿5﴾
Then turneth it to russet stubble. (87:5)
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ﴿6﴾
We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget (87:6)
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ﴿7﴾
Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden; (87:7)
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ﴿8﴾
And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease. (87:8)
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ﴿9﴾
Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder. (87:9)
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ﴿10﴾
He will heed who feareth, (87:10)
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى ﴿11﴾
But the most hapless will flout it, (87:11)
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ ﴿12﴾
He who will be flung to the great Fire (87:12)
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ ﴿13﴾
Wherein he will neither die nor live. (87:13)
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ ﴿14﴾
He is successful who groweth, (87:14)
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ ﴿15﴾
And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth, (87:15)
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ﴿16﴾
But ye prefer the life of the world (87:16)
وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ ﴿17﴾
Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. (87:17)
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ ﴿18﴾
Lo! This is in the former scrolls. (87:18)
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ﴿19﴾
The Books of Abraham and Moses. (87:19)
